Glass Of Water - Coldplay

Acts 17:22-24

New International Version 1984 (NIV1984)
22 Paul then stood up in the meeting of the Areopagus and said: “Men of Athens! I see that in every way you are very religious. 23 For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: to an unknown god. Now what you worship as something unknown I am going to proclaim to you.
24 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands.

The desire for worship is intrinsic. God created us with the need for a relationship with the divine. Oswald Chambers said that in every human heart their is a God shaped void that only God can fill.

Sadly enough, the adversary and father of lies has led many to pursue false Gods. Some even pursue superstition (such as your future in a glass of water) in an attempt to satisfy the need for worship.

Paul encountered this when he saw in Athens a statue to the "Unknown God". This was erected by the Grecians in an effort to acknowledge any God that they may have missed.

Paul picked up on their sentiment and declared the Lord Jesus Christ to all the listeners.
Christ only satisfies the need of the human heart.

Acts 4:12
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”
