Hebrews 12
So then let’s also run the race that is laid
out in front of us, since we have such a great cloud of witnesses
surrounding us. Let’s throw off any extra baggage, get rid of the sin
that trips us up, 2 and
fix our eyes on Jesus, faith’s pioneer and perfecter. He endured the
cross, ignoring the shame, for the sake of the joy that was laid out in
front of him, and sat down at the right side of God’s throne.
It can drag us down, it can demolish us, it can hinder forward progress. But...it also keeps my feet on planet earth. The earths gravitational pull holds me firmly on the ground. Weight is used by athletes to make them stronger. Runners put sand bags on their ankles during training to make them swift afoot.
Like anything else, gravity and weight can be unbearable...but also a tool for training.
When I shared this song with my loved one many years ago, she was going through a rough time. The weight of the world was resting on her shoulders. Gravity was taking a toll. But God used a bad experience to draw her closer to him and...to me. Let the Holy Spirit interpret this song; let it minister to you.
