 I know what you're thinking...
"This song is possibly the oddest Coldplay song I've ever heard!?!?  The music is strange and the lyrics seem to make no sense whatsoever."

Hold on now...remember the artist......

I'm sure you would agree that the only line that has any clarity is the line..."your world turned upside down."

The purpose is to reveal that....when your world is turned upside down...very little makes any sense!!!

Has this happened to you..... YET?
It happens...to everyone. Its part of life on planet earth.
It could be a divorce that has ripped your world apart; a death of someone that you thought would be with you forever; or an event that has brought all your hopes and aspirations to a screeching halt.

Life altering events such as these occur in our lives and at first leave a gaping hole in our heart; which seems to be without cure; and without hope; until God comes to our rescue.

Psalm 46:1

God is our refuge and strength,  an ever-present help in trouble

This is one of my all time favorite verses. After reading this...who wouldn't want to have God on their side? The reality of things is that this is a broken world in which we live. The expectation of what the world is capable of shoveling our way is unimaginable. 

There's one thing I do know for certain.....its not what tomorrow holds...but in knowing who holds your hand.

An upside down world is no match for a Savior who calms the raging seas and said, "be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." 

Pray for today's daily bread. 
Tomorrow is of no concern. 
Today Lord...today!!!
Help me...and meet my need.

The interpretation of Charlie Brown lyrics can be numerous. That's part of the beauty in their art. Coldplay has 1 rule; anyone caught doing hard drugs will be dismissed immediately. So....without a doubt it's not encouraging the exploration of drugs. The message is about the impulses and slippery slope of youth and YOUR choices. Sometimes fantasy...and impulsive and possibly....reckless. Remember the fictional character Charlie Brown...innocent, vulnerable, but always persevering? Haven't you done some crazy things you wish could  be undone?    Scarecrow dreams...can smash my heart into smithereens.                                                               Psalm 25:7 Remember not the sins of my youth     and my rebellious ways; This world can be a minefield for anyone but especially the naïve or curious. Follow Gods leadership, wisdom, and the pursuit of righteousness. Ask for His guidance. It can be a garland around your neck to protect you from foolishness, but also guide you to joy. It's not WWYouD...it's WWJD.

I get excited thinking about what Christ has done for us. The ultimate super hero... just at the right time!!

To be rescued by Him is no ordinary...roll in zee hay.
We have a guardian that promises from here on out never to leave us or forsake us.

We get to take our hero with us...everywhere. That's better than a bag of skittles any day.

Because of who He is, our lives are defined by the confidence...in belonging to Him.
If He thought enough to rescue us, He's determined to guard us. Forevermore.

LOL Angie and I have stood on the bank of the Thames river and listened to a tour guide speak of all the ghastly things that occurred there throughout history. If any place had ghost and spirits that roamed through the night it would be beneath the Tower Bridge. Emphasis on goons, ghost, and spirits that roam the earth don't matter a great deal...in the big picture of walking with Christ and eternity. The lyrics that I've posted however are rich with truth...."I see God come in MY garden but I don't know what He said, 'cause my heart wasn't open." The scripture says that we are surrounded...by witnesses. Huh...maybe that's Godly relatives, grandparents, or others that are cheering us on to finish the race. Can they see us? Really and truly that's not important. What matters is if you see God in your garden and you CAN hear what he says. What corrupts our hearing? Weight. Sin, guilt, worldly concern, anger and so on can throw us off stride in our walk with Him. He knows the way of success and freedom for us. Its not in this world; its in being set free from all the weight of it. Ya follow? Lighten your load, whatever it is that has stilled His voice. Even God is displeased with that. He loved us so much that He gave His only son to save us from sin, death, and hell. How terrible to miss a personal relationship with Christ; the only hope of heaven. U may be counting on something or someone to pave the way for u. However, there is only  1 way. Thru Jesus Christ; the way, the truth, and the life. It's a love thing. He made a way for all. Remember the phrase "whosoever"? He left none exempt. Whoever may come thru His door to eternal life. If this song doesn't reeve up your engine you're out of gas. This was played on the loud speaker the first day of open assembly at  Lee University.  Allison sent me a quick text: "you're not going to belive what they are playing for incoming freshmen...!"  Her year was starting off Coldplay style. :) If you research how Coldplay came up with the lyrics for this you will see a little bit into their genius. The first time I heard this; the scripture before you popped into my head. King David mentions the word tears more than any other author of the bible. The fact that God sees every teardrop we shed and that He lists them....makes me feel humbled and grateful that I have a God that loves me that much. The bible says that God is always attentive to a contrite heart. Jesus was said to never turn away from a smoldering reed. That would be us when we are broken, smoldering, and feeling snuffed out. He loves you.  To you...it may be a tear. To Him...Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall. BTW - Every teardrop is a waterfall is referenced again in another MYLOXYLOTO song.  You know which one?

I guess you could finish that sentence with anything. I don't know what Martin is singing about but it does bring up the age old question of What If... Every time I hear this it brings Psalm 124 to mind. We could play the what if game all day regarding anything but have you ever stopped to think of where you would be IF the Lord had not been on your side? All of you could lists encounters, experiences, close calls, and dramatic rescues that leave no doubt that God was looking out for you. You've rehearsed it a thousand times how it all could have gone down...had it NOT been for some divine intervention. God truly watches over us day and night. Our life and eternity rests in His hands. He's our Chief Shepherd and that's no If........That's a promise!!
